Georgina has been making her handsewn temari balls for four years, these intricate embroidered ornaments are based on the temari (translated as "hand ball") originally made in Japan as children's gifts
Over many centuries these have developed into ornamental folk art objects, with personal messages concealed within them given as a symbol of love and friendship. The bright colours symbolise a wish for happiness for the recipient.
Many hours of work go into their creation.
