HELLO SPRING

Spring is the perfect time for a fresh start. As the days grow lighter and the air begins to warm, it’s natural to feel the urge to refresh our spaces and routines. Even small changes can lift a room and brighten your mood. Thoughtful handmade pieces bring colour, creativity, and warmth into everyday life, making your home feel more personal and inviting. Here are five simple ways to welcome the season and give your space a gentle spring refresh.

Add Fresh Colour to Your Walls

One of the easiest ways to transform a space is by introducing fresh colour. Bright prints and artwork can instantly lift a room, bringing new energy to blank walls or quiet corners. Spring-inspired pieces with soft pastels, botanical themes, or uplifting messages can create a light and cheerful atmosphere that reflects the season.

Update Every Day Homeware

The items we use every day can have a surprising impact on how our spaces feel. Refreshing your mugs, bowls, or small ceramic pieces can make simple routines like morning coffee or evening tea feel a little more special. Handmade ceramics bring character and warmth to the table, with each piece carrying the charm of something thoughtfully crafted.

Start Something New

Spring is often a time for fresh ideas and new plans. A handmade journal or beautiful piece of stationery can be the perfect place to capture thoughts, goals, creative ideas, or seasonal reflections. Whether you're planning projects, writing, or simply slowing down for a moment of creativity, having a special place to write can make the process feel inspiring.

Bring In Light Scents

Scent has a wonderful way of changing the atmosphere of a room. Fresh, lightly scented candles can add a calm and uplifting feel to your home. Fragrances inspired by florals, citrus, or soft herbal notes help create a sense of freshness and relaxation, perfect for welcoming the new season indoors.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Littlebirdy Designs

Lindsay of Littlebirdy Designs in her garden studio surrounded by her table ware featuring her watercolour nature illustrations

Lindsay Atkinson is the artist and nature lover behind Littlebirdy Designs.  Bringing a touch of nature’s magic into your home through charming British wildlife–themed art and gifts featuring her carefully observed, delicate watercolour illustrations. Every product begins life as a hand-painted piece, inspired by wildlife spotted on nature walks in Yorkshire or along the Northumberland coast. After being made redundant, Lindsay took the opportunity to grow Littlebirdy Designs from a side hustle into a full-time business, investing in a kiln and a garden studio to shape it into what it is today. Her illustrations are scanned and thoughtfully arranged to create greetings cards, prints, and stationery, or transformed into ceramic transfers, hand-cut and carefully applied to fine bone china tableware. Through nature journalling and gardening, Lindsay embraces living in harmony with the seasons. Her mission is to capture the quiet wonder of the natural world and bring it into people’s homes through small but meaningful everyday moments.
