Known as "fairy bells" or "witches' thimbles," Bluebells are believed to be guarded by fairies, with legends warning that picking them or disturbing their woodland habitats leads to bad luck, fairy mischief, or sickness. It was also considered unlucky to bring bluebells into your home because of the magical properties.

With 50% of the worlds population growing in the UK, Bluebells are a protected species in Britain, and picking, uprooting or destroying them is not only illegal but comes with a fine of up to £5000.
