Based in East Yorkshire, Hannah Penrose creates hand-drawn illustrations that celebrate place, memory, and everyday charm. Her work began with a series of Beverley landmarks and quickly grew into a joyful collection of illustrated maps and designs featuring towns and cities across the UK and beyond. With a background in museum and exhibition design, Hannah brings an eye for detail and a strong sense of storytelling to everything she makes. Whether it's a familiar landmark or a seasonal botanical, her pieces are designed to feel uplifting and personal. Today, her distinctive illustrations feature across a growing range of prints, cards, homeware and gifts - all proudly created in the UK and made to brighten everyday spaces.

It was in 2019 when our founder, Jane, started successfully selling art pieces at craft fairs, maker markets, and independent shops. These places emitted a delightful atmosphere as artists and art lovers got to meet each other, exchange ideas, and unleash their creativity. Jane loved meeting all these people, learning their stories, and discovering their diverse talents. And when a few months later, in early 2020, she found the perfect shop, she took a leap of faith and set the foundation for Art & Soul. What started as a passion for art has now blossomed into three vibrant shops in Beverley, Hull and Leeds, dedicated to celebrating our community's rich tapestry of talent.
