Ammonites - Original painting

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Original watercolour painting by Bryony Caswell. This beautiful and highly textured piece uses watercolour paint, texture paste, acrylics and glass paints on 300 gsm watercolour paper.

"Ammonites" uses golds, bronze, midnight blue, purples and reds to depict Jurassoic ammonites present in the rocks of North Yorkshire. These accumulations of flattened golden ammonites are common in North Yorkshire coastal sections, and may reflect mass mortalities during Jurassic climate change. This is the first of a series, that is very experimental using different mediums, metallic and iridescent paints to build up relief and convey the beautiful shiny pyritised Harpoceras ammonites against the dark organic rich mudrocks.

The unframed image measures 14 cm x 14 cm. It is framed under glass in a black acrylic frame, with a polar-white textured mount. The framed size measures 22 cm x 22 cm, by 2 cm depth. The painting is sealed at the back with framing tape for protection from dust, its ready to hang and has a back-stand so it can also be free-standing.
