Silver Star Pendant - a wearable piece of festive art 

This eye-catching pendant started life as a ceramic star which has then been patiently built up with layer upon layers of fine silver leaf. The meticulous application and drying of each layer of silver resulted in this completely unique, textured design with exquisite depth and dimension – each one comes out showing the brush marks slightly differently meaning no two stars will ever be identical, the beauty of a handmade product rather than something churned out by a machine. 

The pendant was been hand-polish, intentionally leaving a warm, tactile finish that celebrates the natural texture of the silver clay used to create the layers.

The silver Esther Priestley uses is all 100% recycled silver, mainly in the form of silver clay as this allows textures and patterns to be pressed into the pieces before they are fired in a kiln. Then using traditional silver smithing techniques other parts are added. (Silver Clay has a high silver content, and can actually be hallmarked as 999 Fine Silver rather the slightly lower 925 content of Sterling Silver.)
