PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Limited edition prints of an original watercolour painting by Bryony Caswell. This striking image uses bold colours against a dark background, with a heavily textured mid-ground. Elements of the picture use iridescent paints - when they catch the light they shimmer.

Inspired by ribbon and moray eels commonly found on rocky shores, its hypnotic movements resemble a twirling ribbon. Their long nostrils, shaped like leaves, detect vibrations in the water. The eels change gender throughout their lives - this picture captures the mature male, electric blue, life stage. The original painting uses mixed media (watercolour, texture paste, crackle paste, ink, iridescent paints) on 300gsm watercolour paper.

  • The original painting uses watercolours, wax, inks, various texture pastes and iridescent paint. To transfer this effect every print is individually hand-finished by Bryony using iridescent paints - this makes it sparkle when catching the light (see the close up images for these effects).
  • These are high quality giclee reproductions printed on 350 gsm William Turner Hahnemule paper (making it thick almost like card) with a textured surface - resembling qualities of the original painting.
  • Part of a limited edition run of 150 prints, each is numbered, signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
  • Available in A4 or A3 sizes, framed versions are also available.
  • Prints are packed in film bags (bio-based and biodegradable) with archival quality acid-free backing boards protect prints from chemical changes that can affect the colours.
