Boxer Crab - Original Painting

Original watercolour painting by Bryony Caswell.  This beautiful and highly detailed piece uses watercolour, wax, texture paste  on 300gsm Canson watercolour paper. This is a highly textured piece, and is painted with iridescent paints meaning that the background details sparkle when they catch the light. 

Boxer crabs (aka pom pom crabs), Lybia spp., are a small and fascinating species of crab found on tropical reefs, they carry stinging anemones in their claws to deter predators and competitors. The happiest crab is one that's waving around two anemones. 

The unframed image measures 16 cm x 16 cm. It is framed under glass in a white acrylic frame, with a polar-white textured mount. The framed size measures 25.5 cm x 25.5 cm, by 2.5 cm depth. The painting is sealed at the back with framing tape for protection from dust, its ready to hang and has a back-stand so it can also be free-standing.
