Coastal Vibes

Why do we feel so calm by the coast? Maybe it’s the soft colours, the steady rhythm of the waves, or the open space that gives our minds room to breathe. There’s something about it that helps us slow down and feel more at ease. That’s the inspiration behind our coastal-inspired pieces — a way to bring that same relaxed, refreshing feeling into your everyday. No sea view needed. Here’s how to invite a little coastal calm into your home and daily life.

Let Colour Do the Work

You don’t need a full room makeover to feel the difference. Start with a soft palette: pale blues, sandy neutrals, soft whites, and muted sea-greens. These colours naturally soothe the senses and bring a sense of space and clarity. Even a single piece in a calm, coastal tone — a print, notebook, or throw — can create a shift in the atmosphere.

Add Texture and Natural Elements

It’s not just what you see, it’s what you feel. Linen, clay, driftwood-style finishes — these small, earthy textures connect us to the coast in a quiet, grounded way. Think of them like tactile reminders of time spent near the water. Whether it’s a handmade vase, a woven basket, or a ceramic dish, these pieces bring a subtle, lived-in warmth to your space.

Flat lay of handmade coastal-themed gifts on weathered wood: a turquoise ceramic dish with a starfish and rings, a blue beaded bracelet with striped fish charms, red lobster hoop earrings on a display card, a ceramic shark, and a mini seascape print.

Handmade pieces with a sea breeze feel.

Bring in Scent

Scent has a way of transporting us instantly. A sea salt candle, the clean freshness of eucalyptus, or something with a soft mineral note can bring that seaside feeling into any space. It’s less about being literal and more about capturing the calm, airy atmosphere the coast offers. Light a candle, open a window, and let the room breathe.

Think Light and Airy

Coastal spaces often feel calm because they’re simple and uncluttered. Try keeping things light — soft colours, natural materials, and just a few well-chosen pieces. A favourite print, a linen cushion, or a small ceramic pot can add interest without overwhelming the space. It’s all about creating a bit of breathing room — somewhere that feels easy to be in.

An easy way to bring a bit of coastal joy to your space

Make It Meaningful

The most powerful way to bring the coast home? Tie it to memory. A print that reminds you of your favourite shoreline. A scent from a special trip. A handwritten note tucked beside a seashell. Meaning adds weight to simplicity — and that’s where real calm lives.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: COPPER MOON

Lucy and Jane from Copper Moon standing beside a glass display cabinet showcasing their handmade jewellery inside a well-lit shop filled with gifts, cards, and accessories

Copper Moon is the creative collaboration of sisters Jane and Lucy, based on the East Yorkshire coast. Founded in 2019, the brand grew from a shared desire to find a slower, more intentional way to work while raising young families – one that stayed close to home, nature, and craft. Their jewellery is inspired by a love of the sea and rooted in family history. Their Grandma’s copper collection – gathered during her time living in South Africa – planted the seed, while the sisters’ own overflowing seaglass finds gave shape to the first pieces. Today, Copper Moon blends storytelling, memory, and the magic of beachcombing into a collection that feels both grounded and personal. Each piece is handmade with care, designed to bring a quiet kind of beauty to everyday life.
