One-of-one original from Jan Katewicz’s Elementa Laudis studio. Innerysm: Humble attends to stillness and restraint—clarity born from simple relations of grain, colour, and space. Hand-cut walnut, maple, and zebrano veneers are joined and inlaid onto a rigid panel, toned with artist pigments, and finished with natural oils. Depth emerges from grain direction, colour relationships, and the negative space between forms—the “dance of the wood,” where shifting light creates a subtle sense of movement.

Story
Built through repetition and attention, this composition holds its energy quietly. It’s humility as practice: letting the wood speak first, and allowing structure to appear from patience rather than force.

About the artist
Jan Katewicz (Elementa Laudis) is a Sheffield-based contemporary marquetry artist. His Innerysm series explores presence and self-discovery through pared-back geometry and the living character of wood, pursuing luminous surfaces that seem to move with light.
