One-of-one original from Jan Katewicz’s Elementa Laudis studio. Innerysm: Inner Strength concentrates calm intensity into a precise geometric field. Hand-cut walnut and sycamore veneers are joined and inlaid onto a rigid panel, toned with artist pigments, and finished with natural oils. Depth emerges from grain direction, colour relationships, and the spaces between forms—what the artist calls “the dance of the wood,” where shifting light creates a subtle sense of movement.

This work marks a threshold: the moment inner resolve stops feeling like struggle and becomes clarity. Built through repetition and attention, the composition holds energy without noise—letting the wood’s own voice carry the feeling. The geometry isn’t a code to be solved; it’s a place to breathe, to notice, and to stand with yourself.

Jan Katewicz (Elementa Laudis) is a Sheffield-based contemporary marquetry artist. His ongoing Innerysm series explores presence and self-discovery through pared-back geometry and the living character of wood—aiming for a quiet, luminous surface that seems to move as light shifts.
